My building blocks are creative

Troy at the Mixer

I use AI as a power tool, not a crutch. I was talking with some fellow fractional executives and consultants at a mixer yesterday, and the consensus is that we have to be ready with an answer on the spot, even if the power goes out. Our earned experience and knowledge is so valuable, and the “fake it ’til ya make it” crowd gets exposed pretty quickly.

I got into marketing because my father was a fine artist and sign painter. I had a draw (pun intended) to commercial art, production, and physical media. Then, I learned the “dirty hands” work as a young apprentice in print, sign, and silkscreen shops. I wanted to make my dad proud; even though he didn’t understand the technology, he appreciated the finished work.

Paul Rand and Saul Bass are my commercial art inspirations, and my pen and ink illustrations are influenced by the drawings of Sergio Aragones. I love what I get to do now in the leadership and consulting realm and still express myself through art for fun with single-panel cartoons.

I’m an artist at heart who’s been blessed with the opportunity to turn it into a rewarding adventure along many paths.
